What are the first-aid hemostasis measures on the tourniquet?

Data: 2021-10-18

tourniquetHemostasis is mainly to use rubber tube or rubber tube tourniquet to deflate blood vessels to stop bleeding. This method of hemostasis is firm and reliable, but can only be used for massive bleeding in the extremities.

1. Usage of rubber tourniquet ligation with tourniquet: Take the left rubber band and leave it at about 16cm behind; Tighten the ring body with your right hand, hold your left hand with your front hand, pull down along your limb with your middle finger, and insert the front ring to ensure that it does not loosen. Limb bleeding requires tourniquet to stop bleeding, but there is no rubber tourniquet on site, and local materials such as tourniquet, string or hemp rope can be taken on site. When using a cloth tourniquet to stop bleeding, place it flat into the ring and tighten and fix it. When using string or hemp rope to stop bleeding, it can be twisted and fixed.

2. UsetourniquetProblems to be Noted

(1) The tourniquet should be placed near the heart of the wound. The upper arms and thighs should extend to the upper 1/3. It is forbidden to wear a tourniquet in the middle 1/3 of the upper arm to avoid upper limb paralysis caused by oppression of the nerve.

(2) Before wearing the tourniquet, use a towel or other cloth or cotton wool as a pad. Do not stick the tourniquet directly on the skin; in an emergency, you can roll up your pants or cuffs and tie the tourniquet.

(3) should be tied. If it is too tight, it is easy to damage the nerves. If it's too loose, it won't stop the bleeding. In general, the distal artery cannot be touched or bleeding stops.

(4) long ligation time can cause limb ischemic necrosis. Therefore, relax every 1 hour (upper or lower limbs) for 2 to 3 minutes; when relaxing, press with your fingers to temporarily stop bleeding. Relax every 30 minutes during the cold season. If the connection part exceeds 2h, it should be changed to a higher position for connection.

(5) There should be a sign for wearing the tourniquet, indicating the time and place of wearing the tourniquet. With the tourniquet hemostasis of the wounded should be sent to the hospital as soon as possible to prevent the hemorrhage of distal ischemia caused by limb necrosis.

so how to disinfect the tourniquet?

1. Clean the tourniquet recovered from the clinic in the special cleaning pool in the decontamination area, and the staff should wear protective equipment. First, rinse with running water to remove contaminants, then rub and clean the tourniquet with detergent until it is clean and bright, and then rinse repeatedly with clean water until there is no foam.

2. Rinse and soak with acidic oxidizing potential water for 2 minutes, then rinse with pure water for 30s, and finally rinse.

3. Drying Put the sterilized tourniquet into the sterilized washing machine for 2 minutes, and then put it neatly into the loading basket. The quantity should not be too full, about 1/2 full, so as not to affect the drying effect. Put the basket into the drying oven, set the temperature to 70, the time is 10~15 minutes., To prevent moisture from breeding bacteria again.

4. After the packaging is dry, the staff in the cleaning area should wash their hands carefully and pack. Put 20 tourniquet in a set, neatly packed and sealed in a special cleaning bag. Print the disinfection date at the seal and put it into a special rack for clinical use.
